A TEN-YEAR-OLD from Woodgreen completed his target of running 100 miles during lockdown to show his support for NHS staff at Salisbury District Hospital.

Joseph Mylius has been running at least two miles per day between his home and the bridges that cross the River Avon at Breamore, to increase his fitness and improve his personnel best time so he could continue to be part of the cross country running and football teams, once they resumed.

The Breamore Primary School pupil completed his final run on Thursday, May 28, and on his return through the village, residents were not only clapping for carers but also for his huge effort as he crossed the finishing line.

Joseph, who also plays for Fordingbridge Turks FC, has raised more than £1,000 for the Stars Appeal.

His mother Vicky also presented him with the special Stars Appeal Super Hero 2020 medal on behalf of the charity.

Joseph said: "Thank you to everyone who gave me money,"

"Everyone was cheering for me [when I crossed the finish line] I was really happy," he added.

He also achieved improved his PB from 14.03 to 12.03.

Joseph was inspired to take on the challenge by Captain Sir Thomas Moore. He had initially planned to do a marathon distance but decided to do 100 miles instead. He started the challenge in April.
