A 39-year-old man remains in custody after two women were killed at a house in Salisbury yesterday.

In an update late this afternoon from Wiltshire Police, the force has confirmed that the post mortems of the victims - an 18-year-old and 40-year-old - are currently being carried out following the attack at a house on Wessex Road on Monday.

Now officers are appealing for information.

DCI Darren Hannant, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, who is leading the investigation said: "Our enquiries are continuing at pace and officers are meticulously working to secure vital evidence.

"We would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the Wessex Road area yesterday at around 3pm to come forward and speak to one of us.

Supt Dave Minty said: "I'd like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding so far while we continue to carry out our enquiries in to this tragic incident.

“Officers are likely to remain in the Wessex Road area for a number of days still, so please don't be concerned if you see a heightened police presence.

"Understandably, this incident will cause a level of anxiety in the area and if you have any concerns or information about this case please speak to one of our officers at the scene or on one of the high visibility patrols in the area."
