THE driver of a Vauxhall Astra crashed into a telegraph pole forcing a North Dorset road to be closed overnight.
Police were called to B3081 Wyke Road, Gillingham, on Tuesday night, to a report of a single-vehicle collision.
There were reports the power cables had blocked the road. The local authority took over the road closure this morning.
A 37-year-old Shaftesbury woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 9.30pm on Tuesday, June 2, to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a silver Vauxhall Astra that had been involved in a collision with a telegraph pole on Wyke Road in Gillingham.
"Officers attended and a 37-year-old Shaftesbury woman was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and taken to hospital to be checked over.
"She is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries. Road closures have been put in place due to the damaged telegraph pole."
