COMBINE harvesters in Shaftesbury were damaged earlier this week, causing "several thousand pounds worth of damage".

On Wednesday Dorset Police officers were called to the incident in Salisbury Road, where the Wessex Machinery Sale takes place, to find the machines with smashed windows.

No arrests have yet been made.

On a post on Facebook North Dorset Police said: "#PC2900 and #PCSO6644 have been to the Wessex Machinery Sale Ground in #Shaftesbury after a report of damage to combine harvesters.

"Several thousand pounds worth of damage caused. If you see anything suspicious in the area or people entering the site through the perimeter fence please call #Police straight away."

After the incident a spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Dorset Police received a report on the evening of Wednesday, June 10, of criminal damage at a yard on Salisbury Road in Shaftesbury.

"It is reported that damage was caused to a number of combine harvesters. The damage included smashed windscreens.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident. No arrests have been made."
