WILDFLOWER seeds have been planted in four areas of Shaftesbury as part of a new trial.
Just before the Covid-19 lockdown was announced, the Shaftesbury Town Council grounds team had prepared four sites across the town for the sowing of wildflower seeds.
The council confirmed on June 3 that the team is now “pleased to have sown the seeds” in Christy’s Lane, at the Linden Park junction, Royal Chase Roundabout, the A30 Salisbury Road and New Road by the underpass.
A different variety of seeds has been sown in each of the locations.
Signage is in each of the trial areas informing the public that the seeds have been sown.
Shaftesbury Town Council said: “We look forward to keeping the public up to date as the trial progresses, and learning from the residents their preference of flower type once the growing season is underway next spring.”
Shaftesbury in Bloom has also been busy decorating the town centre with planters, boxes, troughs and barrels of flowers, with its fundraiser reaching more than £650.
