SALISBURY'S Odeon cinema has announced it will be reopening next month.

The cinema in New Canal will open its doors on July 13 but tickets can be booked online now.

Salisbury manager Lewis Turner on the Odeon website said: "We are delighted to announce this Odeon will reopen its doors from 13th July, and you can book tickets now. We have made lots of changes to create a new safer cinema experience for you, and we look forward to welcoming you back."

Safety measure introduced by Odeon include social distancing in auditoriums and foyers, as well as more frequent and through cleaning.

Odeon also says it will be limiting the number of seats for sale for each film and is guaranteeing unoccupied seats between parties to meet social distancing requirements.

It will also stagger show start times to reduce queues and will be operating safe queuing measures with floor markings.

There will be contactless ticket checks and till payments for purchasing food and drinks, which will be pre-packaged. And staff will wear PPE, including face coverings and gloves.

Odeon says it has worked with the UK Cinema Association and government to introduce enhanced health and safety measures for its sites.

There will also be screenings of Stars Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Knives Out and The Greatest Showman.
