A BUILDING in Salisbury which was once used for making Spitfires during the Second World War is being sold for redevelopment into homes.
The 1.15-acre site at 141 Castle Street was the location of one of the three sites where nearly 2,000 Spitfire were made between 1941 and 1947.
The site – which is currently an empty office building and car park - has planning permission for redevelopment into 66 flats.
It is being sold online at the Acuitus live-streamed auction on Thursday July 9, with a guide price of £3m-£3.1m.
Peter Mayo of Acuitus said: “Given the site’s location and the fact that it already has planning permission for residential development, we feel that it provides an interesting opportunity for a potential buyer.”
The property is located close to the junction with Wyndham Road. Market Square, Old George Mall Shopping centre, The Maltings Shopping parade and Salisbury theatre are all within a short walk.
The auction will take place on July 9 at 2pm and will be broadcast online from Acuitus.co.uk.
Interested buyers can submit bids by telephone, online or in writing ahead of the sale.
