THE Ansty Rainbow Maize Maze will be opening on Saturday, with the latest theme displaying a literal message of thanks to the NHS.

Maze creators, Jim and K Price, had planned an olympics-themed maze for 2020, but following the Covid-19 pandemic, lockdown and the ‘Clap for Carers’ events, it was decided to show appreciation for key health workers instead.

They said: “We wanted to show all our wonderful key workers that all their immense hard work was hugely appreciated by us and anyone that wants to come and visit the maze. We also decided that we wanted to donate some of the ticket sales to the Stars Appeal.”

This year the maze is around eight acres in size, and to adhere to social distancing measures the maze is one continuous looping pathway, which is three miles from start to finish.

The maze will be open from 10am until 5pm with tickets costing £6. £1 from every standard ticket will be donated to the Salisbury District Hospital’s charity Stars Appeal.

The Earl of Pembroke, who is the president of Stars Appeal, is visiting the maze today.
