THE first ever Harvest Table in Harnham has gone down a treat as dozens turned out to support the project on a rainy Saturday afternoon (July 25).

Despite the bad weather, between 60 and 70 people showed up at Harnham Parish Hall car park last week to either drop off or collect fresh fruit and veg.

The initiative, organised by Harnham Neighbourhood Association and Harnham Community Network, aims to reduce food waste and provide fresh produce from local growers who have ended up with too much to vulnerable families.

The event will return tomorrow (11am-1pm for producers to deliver food - 2pm-4pm for those wishing to collect it).

It is hoped it will continue every Saturday until the end of September.
