A RETURN to action is drawing ever closer for Warrington Wolves.

Just four days remain until The Wire take to the field against Hull KR on neutral ground at Emerald Headingley 149 days after their last Super League game – a 38-4 win at Hull FC on March 12.

With that, the race to be crowned your Warrington Guardian readers’ player of the season is back on.

We have had seven rounds of voting so far (votes cast for the game against Toronto Wolfpack will still stand) and here is how the land lies…

Matty Ashton is the early front-runner after an impressive start to his Wire career.

He has garnered 25 points thus far having won two of the three man of the match polls he has been eligible for.

He leads a trio of players on 15 points – Blake Austin, Ben Currie and Mike Cooper – while last year’s winner Daryl Clark is on 10 points, as is namesake Jason and Danny Walker.

HOW THE VOTING WORKS:

After every Wire match, we will nominate five stand-out performers for you to choose from in our man of the match poll.

The winner of each poll receives 10 points, with five points awarded for second place and two points for third.

The points are added up at the end of the season and the player with the most is crowned your Guardian readers’ player of the season.

Look out for our man of the match poll after the final hooter of every Wire game to have your say.
