THE number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Wiltshire has increased by 24 since last week but no new cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 1,310 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Wednesday, August 5 in Wiltshire, in line with the same time on Tuesday.
This is an increase from 1,286 at the same time on Wednesday, July 29, however, no new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Wiltshire since August 4.
However, the county’s infection rate now stands at 262 cases per 100,000 people, a figure far lower than the average rate across England of 470.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 891 over the period, to 307,184.
Wiltshire’s cases were among the 13,437 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 26 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
On Friday the prime minister announced that the reopening of casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and remaining close contact services will stay closed ‘until August 15 at the earliest’.
