DRAFT plans for the redevelopment of the Salisbury District Hospital site have been unveiled.

The Health, Education and Technology (HEAT) Project has been working to create "a sensitive, phased and inclusive development" around the hospital site.

Its plans include a cancer unit for outpatient cancer services, a midwife led birthing unit, a day surgery unit, developing a facility to provide intensive therapy for patients and cutting waiting times.

A series of public exhibitions were held last March to launch the project. Since then, a number of feasibility studies and initial consultations with hospital staff, the community, other providers and local businesses have been taking place to help refine proposals.

The initial master plans have now been made available for preview and members of the public are being invited to attend a webinar to receive an update from the project team.

A full consultation will take place once the feasibility studies are complete and the plans are finalised.

Nick Marsden, Chairman at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Salisbury District Hospital is a vital part of our community: we need to ensure we are at the forefront of healthcare, integrating with other services and working with others to create a modern, sustainable centre, which can serve the community’s changing needs.

“We are excited to be hosting this event, to explain our initial master plans to the community and provide an interim update on the project – we will be consulting fully once our accompanying studies are complete.

“There is more information about how to register on our website – www.heatprojectsalisbury.co.uk – along with the master plan documents. We are keen to give the community the chance to see progress so far.”

The event will take place on Tuesday August 18 at 5pm. People need to pre-register their interest by visiting www.heatprojectsalisbury.co.uk.
