A NEW play area in Three Legged Cross has been officially opened.

The play area at Doorsteps Green was opened by the Mayor of Verwood, Councillor Pat Morrow, who was joined by Deputy Mayor, Councillor Philip Mann and councillors Jane Russell and Martyn Hudson for a special ribbon cutting.

Councillor Russell even took time to try out the new climbing equipment.

A spokesperson for Verwood Town Council said: “The Town Council are delighted to continue with the plans to upgrade and renew all of the play areas in Verwood and Three Legged Cross and re-open this play area as part of those plans.”

It awards grants twice a year to local organisations to support local initiatives and help create opportunities for the residents of Verwood and Three Legged Cross.

The deadline for applications is September 1.

Applications are available to download from the council’s website, verwood.gov.uk, where there is also more information about the grant aid scheme.
