Firefighters rushed to deal with an unattended camp fire at Wareham Forest - just over two months after a devestating blaze ripped through 220 hectares of the area.

Crews from Bere Regis and Wareham are in attendance at the incident yesterday afternoon.

A spokeperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Control said: "People of Dorset and Wiltshire, you are not going to believe this. We currently have crews from Bere Regis and Wareham in attendance at an unattended camp fire in Wareham Forest.

"Two months ago our beautiful forest was devastated by carelessness and here we go again."

An amber warning for wildfires is in force this weekend due to the hot, dry conditions.

Just two and half months ago, more than 150 firefighters tackled the major fire at Wareham Forest.

It is believed the blaze was started by a disposable barbecue and led to more than two weeks of firefighting, with crews from other services assisting, as well as a helicopter dropping water on the fire.

The damaged area is likely to take decades to fully recover.
