A POULNER resident has raised concerns over the “lack” of facilities for children and teenagers in the area.

The resident spoke during a meeting of Ringwood Town Council on Wednesday, July 29, which was held online via Zoom.

She said: “We moved to Poulner eight years ago. We are very happy here but one thing that struck me when we first moved is the lack of facilities for children and teenagers.”

She said she had previously contacted the council and said the she appreciated there might not be the volume of children like Southampton adding: “However, I still feel there isn’t a huge amount for kids in the town, particularly on the Poulner side.”

She said the council had taken down swings in Kingfisher Way due to health and safety concerns and damage to the trees.

She said children are now on school holidays and, with many clubs cancelled, there is little for them to do, and she felt that children and young people were “pretty far down on the list of priorities”.

Town Mayor, Councillor Tony Ring, said the council were not in a position to debate the issue at the meeting but the council would discuss it fully and “look to do whatever we can”.

He said: “We are very conscious of the problem you have highlighted.”
