MORE than 100 firefighters have been battling a wildfire in the Ringwood Forest area.
The fire, involving a large area of trees and scrubland covering an area of five hectares, was reported to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) at around 5.30pm on Monday (August 10).
HFRS have been working alongside Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the blaze.
At the peak HFRS says there were 110 firefighters in attendance at the scene.
Specialist vehicles and appliances from Ringwood, Lyndhurst, Fordingbridge, Burley and Totton fire stations were used.
A relief strategy was put in place at 10pm on Tuesday 11 August, with three appliances and a land rover remaining overnight.
Today, firefighters are working to contain the fire within the five hectares - focusing on damping down and searching for hotspots before the heat causes any further flare ups.
The incident is still ongoing.
HFRS says the cause of the fire has yet to be established.
