Two teenagers have been assaulted by a group of "approximately" five youths - and one of the suspects is believed to have been carrying a knife
Police were called shortly after 4.45pm yesterday to the incident near the cricket club in Harnham.
The two victims, both boys aged approximatley 15, sustained head injuries during the assault but fortunately, these are not believed to be serious.
Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
Det Sgt Lawrence Billi said: “Understandably news of this incident will be concerning to residents. It happened in broad daylight and the victims are young teenagers. Fortunately, they don’t appear to be seriously injured.
“We’d urgently like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to police.
“Officers will remain in the area throughout this evening to conduct enquiries as well as visibility patrols to provide reassurance to residents.”
