THREE teenagers spat at a man and threatened to assault him with a bottle after walking across an ongoing cricket match.

At around 8pm on August 7 an under 13s cricket match was taking place at the cricket pitch in Wilton Road, Salisbury, when a group of around 15 teenagers came onto the grounds from the Lower Bemerton recreation area.

Three members of the group decided to walk across the pitch during the game, and when asked to move by a man in his 50s who was nearby, the three youths became abusive.

Following the threatened assault, the group headed off in the direction of the golf club, possibly on to Bemerton Heath.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested this morning in connection with the incident and he currently remains in custody in Melksham.

Wiltshire Police said officers would "urgently" like to hear from any witnesses to the incident.
