A MUSEUM that “would not survive without volunteers” is looking to expand its team.
Shaftesbury Abbey Museum is looking for voluntary stewards to welcome visitors to the gardens this season, in addition to dealing with money from shop sales and recording guest's feedback.
A spokesperson for the museum said the team is looking for “friendly volunteers who enjoy meeting people”.
They added: “The Abbey is a self-supporting charity run by volunteers, which relies on the income generated by admission fees and events, and it would not survive without our valued team of volunteers – and we need more!
“While you would not be expected to become an expert in medieval history, most volunteers find it interesting to learn about the Abbey’s story to be able to engage with visitors and answer questions.”
The museum building currently remains closed but visitors can enjoy the gardens for free between 10am and 4pm.
