DS Bailey was one of the first officers to investigate the 2018 Novichok attack against former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.
He fell ill after coming into contact with the nerve agent but later recovered.
He and his family were portrayed in BBC drama The Salisbury Poisonings which aired in June.
