ALMOST half a million pounds was claimed by Salisbury restaurants using the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, figures reveal.
Figures published by the government today show a total of 128 restaurants registered for the scheme in the city, with 107,000 meals claimed for.
£493,000 was claimed by those using the scheme, with an average discount per meal of £4.60.
The scheme has been so successful in Salisbury, some eateries have decided to extend the scheme.
In South West Wiltshire, 90 restaurants took part in the scheme, with 92,000 meals claimed for.
The total amount of discount claimed was £345,000 at an average discount of £3.75 per meal.
The New Forest saw almost 300,000 meals claimed at a total discount of more than a million pounds, while in the Blackmore Vale area, 118 restaurants claimed 66,000 meals.
