MORE than £11,000 has been earmarked to finish the refurbishment of Gillingham’s town bridge office and public toilet.

Heard during the virtual Gillingham Town Council meeting on August 24, the £11,962 sum was backed unanimously by councillors.

It was also approved that a company labelled as ‘Contractor 1’ would complete the refurbishment, which must be finished by October 23.

A hand washer was recently purchased and installed in the public toilet and windows were repaired in the town bridge office, resulting in £1,524 of the budget already spent.

In the report provided by the council’s estate management and properties sub-committee, ‘Contractor 1’ was described as “a reputable contractor who has been operating in the local area for many years”.
