FIREFIGHTERS in Fordingbridge are back in training for a 54-mile charity challenge.

The team of firefighters from Fordingbridge Fire Station will be walking/running around all 11 fire stations in the New Forest wearing their full fire kit and a 16kg breathing apparatus set.

They been due to do the challenge on April 11 and 12 but had to postpone it due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The team is made up of Matt O’Hare, Colin Reeves, Lee Dorrington and former watch manager at Fordingbridge, Pete White.

The challenge is in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity who help support firefighters and their families.

It will start at Totton Fire Station where the team will then head to Lyndhurst, Hythe, Hardley, Beaulieu and Brockenhurst on the first day.

The second day will take the team from Brockenhurst to Lymington, New Milton, Burley, and Ringwood before finishing in Fordingbridge.

Matt O’Hare said the team is “back in training” and will be taking on the challenge on October 24 and 25.

They hope to raise £1,000 for the charity. To make a donation go to gofundme.com/f/fordingbridge47-new-forest-challenge
