The career of internationally acclaimed furniture maker Luke Hughes from Tisbury is the focus of a new book.
Furniture in Architecture – the work of Luke Hughes is being published by Thames & Hudson on September 17.
Thirty years ago, having established a reputation for excellence in London he returned to his Wiltshire roots and set up a workshop in Tisbury with a group of local craftsmen to make classic, modern English furniture.
The workshop was opened by the then MP Robert Key. And today Luke Hughes and Company is now one of Britain’s most significant, award-winning furniture designers, with a studio in London’s Covent Garden.
Amongst the list of commissions are The Tower of London; Salisbury, Winchester, Westminster Cathedrals; more than 90 per cent of Oxbridge Colleges; The Supreme Court to name just a few.
On September 16, Messums Wiltshire in Tisbury is hosting a special launch event with Luke Hughes in conversation with author Aidan Walker.
