POLICE have warned drivers about dangerous parking after spotting a Volvo blocking a pedestrian crossing in Broadstone.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team came across the vehicle yesterday and the driver has been issued with a fixed penalty of a £100 fine and three points on his licence.
A spokesman said: "The team witnessed this Volvo blocking the view of other drivers and pedestrians, approaching or using this crossing in Broadstone. The driver appeared oblivious as to the risks he was causing.
"We think this parking is unacceptable and we will always deal appropriately."
It comes as a consultation on whether to ban pavement parking is underway.
The Government plans to make journeys easier for disabled people and parents pushing prams.
The Department for Transport (DfT) is consulting on three options in relation to pavement parking; extend the London-style ban nationwide, make it easier for councils to prohibit pavement parking and give councils the power to fine offenders.
An open consultation has been launched and will run until November 22, 2020.
