POLICE have appealed for help to get rough sleepers off the streets after complaints about drug use and anti social behaviour in car parks.

Officers from the Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out checks in car parks across Bournemouth town centre at the weekend.

They include The Square car park, off Richmond Hill, and the Richmond Gardens multi-storey car park.

Officers discovered tents and personal belongings during their checks.

A spokesman for Bournemouth Police said: "We have liaised with the workers from the council and private car parks to see how we are going to deal with this.

"We have spoken to a few of the homeless and are talking to services to see if we can assist them in getting off the streets."

Officers urged anyone who witnesses anto social behaviour or drug use to contact them on 101.
