THE Charter fun fair will not be going ahead in Salisbury this year.

Following a discussion with Public Health, Salisbury City Council's events team has concluded that the monitoring of crowd control and social distancing is "unfeasible and would come at a substantial cost".

The council says it is continuing to assess the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on events due to take place later this year, and will update its website and social media with any changes made.

The fair, an annual tradition for the city, has been held on the third Monday of October since 1227.
