Around £7.6million has been awarded to self-employed workers in Salisbury between June and August of this year, government figures have revealed.
The number refers to the money paid out to businesses as part of the second tranche of the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS).
Across Wiltshire and Swindon, the government says a total of 19,500 people accessed £53million worth of grants to help to cover lost earnings.
This is in addition to the support given to self-employed workers via the first tranche of the scheme – worth £81million.
The first grant, covering up to 80 per cent of average monthly profits up to £2,500 per month, was made available for March to May.
The second grant, covering up to 70 per cent of average monthly profits up to £6,570, was made available for June to August.
As part of the second tranche North Swindon received £9.2million, followed by South West Wiltshire (£8.2million), Salisbury (£7.6million) and South Swindon (£7.5million).
