A MEMBER of staff at Wyvern College has tested positive for coronavirus, the school has confirmed.

This comes as more than 300 children have been asked to self isolate after precautionary measures were taken at four different Wiltshire educational facilities.

In a letter posted on its website, headteacher Nicola Bull said the small number of staff who have been in close contact with the staff member will receive a letter asking them to self-isolate for 14 days.

Nicola added: "We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

"This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness."

No children have been in close contact with the member of staff.

The school remains open and the school confirmed that children should continue to attend as normal if they remain well.

The letter added: "Please do not contact the school for more information – we cannot provide you with any further details, but we can assure you that we are taking all necessary precautions and following all the guidance and advice from PHE".
