DESPITE the cancellation of the annual Gillingham carnival, a window spotting competition will still be going ahead.

Organised by the carnival committee and supported by Gillingham Chamber of Commerce, oddities will appear in shop windows between October 4 and 11 in a bid to win a cash prize.

In a change to previous years entry will be free, although donations will be gratefully received.

The carnival, due to take place on October 10, was cancelled as it became victim to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The committee said it took this decision for the safety of both carnival entrants and the public, and will return on October 9 next year.

Entry forms for the window challenge will be available from October 2 from Cullingford Carpets or gillinghamcarnival.org.uk
