A young mum's determination to raise awareness of a rare syndrome has resulted in nearly £17,000 being raised for charity in memory of her baby boy.

Hollie Davis, who lives in Tidworth, spent the past 10 days running 20km to raise funds for the Lullaby Trust after her son Kitt passed away to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

Thanks to her fantastic efforts and the generosity of family, friends and strangers alike, the 30-year-old has raised almost nine times her initial target of £2,000.

Hollie, a serving soldier, said: "I was really surprised I managed to run every day although it's painful and I can barely walk now.

"Each day somebody different came out running with me or riding the bike which was lovely. On Friday some of my good friends from the regiment came running and Soldier Magazine came out to take some photos. I've had so much support and people are still donating so I'm hoping I can cross that £17,000 target.

"Considering my original target was £2,000, it's just something else."

Salisbury Journal:

Hollie's fundraising challenge came about following the death of her son Kitt at just 20 weeks old in August this year.

On Saturday, the last day, Hollie completed the challenge at Kitt's burial place in Cholderton where she was joined by a group of supporters holding posters.

"It was really emotional, I cried a lot. I almost feel a little bit lost now that I've finished," she added.

However, as next month marks SIDS awareness month, the mum-of-one is thinking of doing another fundraiser in the hope she can raise even more money.
