TWO popular firework events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Poole Quay’s annual fireworks event, due to take place on November 5, and The Littledown Fireworks event, due to take place on November 7, have both fallen victim to the pandemic.
Councillor Vikki Slade, acting portfolio holder for tourism, leisure and communities, said: “It is with regret that we have had to cancel the very popular Fireworks display at Poole Quay, on Friday November 5, due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
“This annual event attracted thousands to the quay every year but, in order to ensure the safety of our residents, the decision has been made to cancel the event for this year.”
The council said the decision was made amid growing concerns around social distancing.
Speaking of the Littledown fireworks display, event director Mick Callaghan, said: “We will be back next year on Saturday November 6 2021 for an even bigger and better event.”
