A FAMILY-RUN pet food store and grooming salon has expanded after opening a new premises in Wilton.
Sam and Matt Legg decided to take the opportunity to open another Colfords Natural Pet Store and Pampered Dogs Groom Salon after a unit became available at Wilton Business Centre on Kingsway.
This is the second premises for the couple who already run a shop and groomers on Salisbury Street in Fordingbridge.
The new site in Wilton, which specialises in raw pet foods, has been open now for three months and Sam says it is going "brilliantly" so far.
Sam said: "Matt and I are very proud to have a second raw feeding store. We have two new ranges of raw pet food now, making that 11 different brands we offer.
"With the extra storage means we can now offer bulk deals some can be found online on our website we are slowly building.
"We do it ourselves and as always keeping it in the family. We are pleased to bring another small independent business to Wilton and already are using the other local small independent businesses ourselves."
The shop will also be running a delivery service serving a five mile radius from the Wilton shop.
Sam and Matt will be joined by groomer Lara Trench.
"The Wilton salon is all brand new and kitted out with a top of the range hydrobath. Lara Trench has been a lifelong friend of mine, she started grooming with me in 2008. She’s amazing at what she does and has a real passion for grooming," added Sam.
Speaking about expanding the business, Sam says her husband Matt has been waiting for years to branch out into Salisbury, adding: “It just happened that the unit came up and was in a really good location where people can pull up straight outside.”
Although, Sam admits it was a bit of a gamble to start a new business during a pandemic she added: “At the end of the day unless you try you have no idea.”
She said: “We’ve met so many lovely people, who are regulars now. Everyone that has been in has come back. It is lovely."
