A total of 130 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Wiltshire, excluding Swindon, in the latest seven-day period.

The figure refers to the seven days to October 2 when the rate of new cases per 100,000 people in the Wiltshire Council area rose to 26.0.

It's a sharp increase on the previous week when numbers were almost half.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent three days (October 3-5) has been excluded as it is incomplete and likely to be revised.

In the week to September 25, 68 new cases were recorded. The rate of new cases was 13.6.

As of 4pm on Monday October 5, there have been 1,771 coronavirus cases in the Wiltshire Council area since the start of the pandemic, the government's coronavirus dashboard shows. Thirty-two were reported yesterday.

According to a chart based on daily cases by specimen date, the date in which tests were carried out as opposed to processed, cases in Wiltshire, like elsewhere in the UK, are on the rise.

On Monday, an interactive map on the government's website suggested cases in Salisbury had gone up.

According to the tool, which is updated every weekday, Stratford and Churchfields had both had four cases recorded there.

This was based on Covid cases reported by October 2 with specimen dates between September 24 and 30.

Since then, Churchfields has seen cases go down with today's map showing the area has between zero and two like most parts of Wiltshire.

The information on today's map is based on lab confirmed positive cases reported by October 3 with specimen dates between September 25 and October 1.
