Coronavirus cases in Wiltshire have almost doubled since the last seven-day period.

In the week to October 3, 139 new cases were recorded compared to just 79 the week before.

The rate of new cases per 100,000 has risen to 27.8 from 15.2 as a result.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

According to the government's coronavirus dashboard, 32 confirmed cases were reported in the latest 24-hour period.

This brings the total number of people who have contracted the virus in the Wiltshire Council area so far to 1,803.

Around 90 of these cases were added to the total over the weekend due to a technical glitch which resulted in nearly 16,000 in the UK being missed.
