Two coronavirus cases have been reported at Salisbury District Hospital, it has been confirmed.
A spokesperson from Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said two inpatients have tested positive for Covid-19.
However, the hospital clarified that all patients who are admitted to the hospital are tested for Covid-19, but this doesn’t necessarily mean they are being treated for Covid.
The news comes amid an increase in cases in the Wiltshire Council area.
In Salisbury, there has also been a slight rise, particularly in Churchfields, Stratford and nearby Amesbury.
At the end of last month, the new CEO of Salisbury District Hospital confirmed there had been no signs of a second wave but added that medical staff were “prepared and ready” to cope with a potential surge in Covid admissions.
