THE new mayor of Verwood and Three Legged Cross says he is “pleased to be able to give something back to the community”.
Councillor Matthew Parker was elected mayor during an online Zoom meeting of Verwood Town Council on Tuesday, September 22. He said he is “very honoured” to be taking on the civic role, adding: “I am looking forward to working on behalf of everyone.”
“During my time as mayor I will be looking at ways of raising funds for all our five local schools to go towards their IT equipment and library books,” he said. “In addition, part of the funds will be donated to the local support group for the National Association for Crohn’s and Colitis.”
“I have lived in Verwood with my wife Jodi, and my three children, since 2006 and I am pleased to be able to give something back to the community,” he added.
Cllr Parker wants to continue to build engagement with the residents and increase awareness of the council’s role.
During this time it is also hoped the children’s areas can continue to be replaced as well as looking at the crossings/roads in the area and the best way of engaging with residents and Dorset Council about eligible works
