DURRINGTON Club has had to close for a deep clean after a member tested positive for Covid-19.

The club in Windsor Road, which was formally known as Durrington Working Men's Club, confirmed to the Journal that it has "closed the club to do a deep clean".

A spokesperson said: "We are doing everything we possibly can to keep staff and members safe."

The club is also sending out letters to those who would have come into contact with the person, advising them not to come to the club for 10 days.

A post on the Durrington Club Ltd Facebook page said it will be reopening on Friday.

The Facebook statement said: "We would just like to inform you that a member who attended the club Saturday afternoon has unfortunately tested positive for Covid.

"Everyone’s health, wellbeing and safety are of the upmost importance. We have therefore taken the decision to close the club immediately to carry out a thorough deep clean. The club will reopen this Friday at 5pm.

"We appreciate it is a concerning time for everyone and ask everyone remains vigilant, follows govt guidelines and fully participates in the NHS track & trace system."
