RINGWOOD School says it has been "informed of two unrelated positive cases of Covid-19 within the school community".

Two separate bubbles within the school have been affected and some students, who have been identified as "close contacts" have been sent home to self-isolate.

The school says it remains open and operating as normal to all other students.

A statement issued today said: "We can confirm that Ringwood School have been informed of two unrelated positive cases of Covid-19 within the school community.

"Two separate bubbles within the school have been affected. The school have been in close contact with the Department for Education and Public Health England, and those students identified as ‘close-contacts’ have been provided with remote learning and sent home to self-isolate.

"The school remains open and operating as normal to all other students."

In a letter to parents, the school said: "We have been made aware of a member of our school community who has tested positive for Covid-19.

"Please note that this is unconnected to yesterday's case and as such, it is considered an isolated case by our local public health team.

"We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (Covid-19) will be a mild illness.

"The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days."
