FOUR drivers who were all caught speeding on the A338 Spur Road have been sentenced on a single day by a judge.

The offences took place between October, 2019, and January of this year between Cooper Dean and Blackwater junction.

This stretch of the dual carriageway contains average speed cameras.

The limit is 50mph, however, one of the drivers was clocked a speed of 80mph, while another was caught twice in the space of five days.

Details for the offenders, their crimes and the punishment they were given from single justice procedure hearings at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, October 17 are as follows:

KEVIN LEWIS CRABB, aged 37 and of McKinley Road, Bournemouth, admits driving a VW van on the A338 Spur Road Cooper Dean to Blackwater junction on January 15 at a speed exceeding the 50mph limit, namely 79mph. Fined £553. To pay £55 surcharge and £85 costs. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.

STEPHEN J KENDRICK, aged 49 and of Windsor Road, Bournemouth, admits driving a Citroen car on the A338 Spur Road Cooper Dean to Blackwater junction on October 10, 2019, at a speed exceeding the 50mph limit, namely 58mph. Fined £68. To pay £32 surcharge and £85 costs. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.

NIGEL DRAPER, aged 57 and of Forest View Drive, Wimborne, admits driving a Volvo car on the A338 Spur Road Cooper Dean to Blackwater junction on October 27, 2019, at a speed exceeding the 50mph limit, namely 80mph. Fined £1,185. To pay £118 surcharge and £85 costs. Driving record endorsed with six points. No totting up disqualification due to mitigating circumstances that any disqualification would result in the failure of a business which would have a significant financial impact on both the defendant and the number of people employed by that business.

STUART GRIFFIN, aged 81 and of Greensome Drive, Ferndown, convicted of driving a Mini car on the A338 Spur Road Cooper Dean to Blackwater junction on January 2 at a speed exceeding the 50mph limit, namely 65mph. Fined £40. Driving record endorsed with three points. Also convicted of driving a Mini car on the A338 Spur Road Cooper Dean to Blackwater junction on December 29, 2019, at a speed exceeding the 50mph limit, namely 66mph. Fined £80. To pay £32 surcharge and £85 costs. Disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months.
