FREE food for children is not the only service being offered next week, with one Salisbury barbers even providing free haircuts during the half term break.

In light of the government's refusal to extend free school meals during the holidays, many restaurants across Salisbury will be dishing out food and drink for free until November 1.

Similarly inspired by the work of footballer Marcus Rashford, Burden's shaves and trims has also decided to get involved with community support by giving children free haircuts.

In a post on Facebook the barbers says: "Burden's Shaves and Trims are going to be offering FREE HAIRCUTS to children with families that are less fortunate during this current time.

"You don’t have to be a client at all just message directly quoting 'FREE BACK TO SCHOOL CUT'.

"This offer is only for those who really need it. Please don’t take a space away from those who really need it."

Speaking to the Journal, owner Lewis Burden said: "I have chosen to offer free haircuts to young children of families who are finding the current circumstances difficult to manage and whom this small gesture might help.

"This is something I am able to do, and I believe if we all come together and help each other we can support our amazing local community! After being inspired by the man himself Marcus Rashford, I want to do as much as I can to help families in my area.

"If only this helps to put a smile on a few children’s faces it will definitely be worth it."
