THE Christmas in Fordingbridge and festive lights switch-on has been cancelled due to Covid-19.
A statement from Fordingbridge Town Council said: "Fordingbridge Town Council has taken the difficult decision to cancel the annual Christmas In Fordingbridge and Christmas Light Switch On event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"We are extremely disappointed that this wonderful and popular community event cannot take place this year however, as the virus continues to be present, the safety of the community is paramount."
The council will still be providing Christmas lights which will be switched on from Saturday, November 14.
The council said: "This year we have invested in new and improved Christmas lights which we are sure will provide a resplendent and festive display. We will continue to work with our local independent retail and business owners, to bring you Christmas In Fordingbridge.
"Keep The Heart Beating In Fordingbridge this Christmas is the essence of the campaign to encourage everyone to shop locally and purchase gifts and Christmas supplies in the town, from our fantastic array of shops and services."
Free parking will be available on December 5, 12, 13, 19 and 20.
