THE Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge will be reopening for film screenings.

Film fans can book tickets on the Regal’s website before the reopening on Monday (November 2).

Bridget Mulrooney, The Regal’s operations and film programming manager, said: “We are over the moon to finally be able to open our doors again. We have a fabulous programme of films coming up that we know our punters are going to absolutely love. First up is Military Wives on opening night (November 2), followed by Judy and, rounding up the week, will be the biggest British independent film of 2019; Bait. You can even book a Christmas film already… and who can say no to Elf at £6 a ticket?.

"We have been exceptionally lucky to receive as much support as we have throughout lockdown from our members, volunteers and customers and we really hope that everybody will continue to support us now that we have opened back up by coming to see a film, or even just by helping to spread the word that their local community cinema is back by telling their friends and family.”

As part of the Covid-19 safety measures the wearing of face coverings is mandatory and separate households must sit separately.

The Regal Cinema on Shaftesbury Street was crowned winner of the Audience category at this year’s Film Society of the Year Awards.

The accolade was in recognition of the venue’s work to host online film screenings which have kept film fans connected while the cinema was shut.
