Salisbury theatre, museum and arts venues closed during lockdown

THE Salisbury Museum will be closed until December 3.

A statement on its website said: “The museum will be closed until 3 December and the majority of staff, if possible, will be working from home.

“Despite the current restrictions we are very keen to stay in touch. Our social media channels continue to be the place for us all to connect and where hopefully, we can help to keep you inspired and informed.”

“The current situation continues to put an enormous strain on all our finances. We need your support more than ever, to ensure we can offer the same incredible programme of exhibitions, events and activities in the future.”

Boscombe Down Aviation Collection (BDAC) is closed until December 2.

The aviation collection, which is located at Old Sarum Airfield, reopened after the first lockdown on July 7.

A statement posted on BDAC’s Facebook page from project director John Sharpe said: “The government’s decision to impose another lockdown is not the news that we wanted to hear, particularly as the Collection was beginning to see some early seeds of a recovery. “

Planned events during that period will now be cancelled.

The statement added: “The board of directors will continue to explore every opportunity to support and sustain the Collection and the efforts of many members to assist these endeavours is much appreciated.

“Obviously, this is another setback that is not welcomed but we have managed so far to get through a very difficult period and, with determination and commitment, will get over this hurdle as well.”

Wiltshire Creative has once again temporarily closed the doors of venues in Salisbury.

Salisbury Arts Centre and Salisbury Playhouse closed from today (Thursday, November 5). Performances and workshops will be cancelled until Thursday, December 3.

Wiltshire Creative said: “Following the successful re-opening of our venues we deeply regret that the government’s recent lockdown announcement means that we must temporarily close our doors yet again.

“Performances and Workshops from Thursday 5 November to Thursday 3 December will be cancelled in line with lockdown restrictions.”

Wiltshire Creative says that tickets are still on sale for the Christmas season and it hopes to bring audiences “safe entertainment during the festive period, when lockdown lifts”.

The statement continued: “Tickets remain on sale for our Christmas season and we very much hope to still bring you safe entertainment during the festive period, when lockdown lifts.

“While this is hugely disappointing news, we will welcome you back again."

The Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge is another entertainments venue temporarily closing as the new lockdown comes into effect.

Bridget Mulrooney, the operations and film programming manager, said: “All us here at The Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge are genuinely devastated to be in this position again a mere three days after re-opening our doors to the public. We are fully intending to reschedule all the screenings affected so that people don’t have to miss out on the wonderful films that they were so looking forward to seeing.

"We would like to say a really big thank you to everybody who has supported us in various ways since that unexpected and dreadful day back in March. We are repeatedly humbled by the words of comfort, encouragement and support that we are continuing to receive from our lovely ticket holders, customers, members, volunteers and friends. Rest assured that we will be bringing films back to Fordingbridge as soon as we can.”
