A MAN has suffered serious leg injuries after being crushed by a wall.
Emergency services scrambled to save a man trapped under a collapsed wall in Southampton.
The man believed to be in his 40s was said to have been doing building work at a home in Basset Wood Drive this morning.
Firefighters were able to pull him from fallen rubble and he was raced to hospital with serious leg injuries.
A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 8.49am with the caller reporting a wall had collapsed on a workman on Bassett Wood Drive, Southampton.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance, our Hazardous Area Response Team, the Hampshire & Isle of Wight critical care car and an incident commander to the scene. The patient was an approximately mid-40s male who had sustained serious leg injuries as a result of the collapse.
"Once he had been rescued from the rubble with the help of Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, he received initial emergency treatment from our staff before being transported to University Hospital Southampton."
