POLICE are hunting a man after a girl was punched in the face on the way to college. 

A 16-year-old girl was punched in the face in Southampton city centre. 

She turned onto Pound Tree Road while looking at her phone and wearing headphones having been walking down Above Bar Street.

As she passed JD Sports she was punched in the face by a man during the incident at around 8.35am on November 2, according to police. 

She suffered minor injuries which required stitches to her nose.

Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.

A police spokesperson said: "We need your help! Do you recognise this man?

"We have released this CCTV image and are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was assaulted on Pound Tree Road in Southampton on Monday 2 November.

"Do you know this man? Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened?

"Anyone with information is asked to phone 101, quoting reference 44200424723.
