SCHOOL children have been painting pebbles to show respect on Remembrance Day.

The children found numerous creative ways to mark the date of the end of the First World War in 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Pupils from Beaminster St Mary's Academy were each provided with their own pebble which they proceeded to design and paint the own poppy on before taking them home as a keepsake. They also made collages and drawings of poppies and even created a figure of a man resting against a tree surrounded by poppies, the values of the school were written on the figure.

They also were able to wear red to school for a day in exchange for a donation towards the Royal British Legion, raising more than £70.
