A TEENAGE moped rider was airlifted to hospital after a rush-hour crash in Bournemouth.

The 18-year-old man suffered serious injuries when his moped collided with a car in Wimborne Road, Moordown at 5.42pm on Monday.

The collision took place at the junction with Elmes Road.

Police attended with the ambulance service and the road was closed to allow for emergency services to deal with the incident.

The moped rider – an 18-year-old man from Poole – was taken to Southampton hospital by air ambulance for treatment. His condition is described as serious but stable and his family has been informed.

The road reopened at around 10.10pm.
