WEM Swimming Pool will soon reopen following the completion of essential works.

The pool has been closed for much of the year in part because of Covid-19, but specifically to repair and reinstall much of the pipework and other work.

The pool is now ready to reopen, with social-distancing restrictions in place.

A spokesman for Wem Swimming and Lifestyle Centre thanked users for the patience and said the were looking forward to reopening the pool.

In a statement online, the spokesman for the centre said: “The latest news is all the major work is completed, including extra ventilation and we are refilling the pool today and shall test the pipework etc.

“This will be followed by a deep clean and back-washing the system.

“Our plan is to open on December 2, subject to Government guidelines.

“There are plans, preparations and safety checks in place when we can welcome you back.

“As I have mentioned before, there will be some changes in the way you use the pool and gym.

“We will contact you soon with further details with all the opening details and booking/paying etc.

“Thank you for your patience and we look forward to seeing you again shortly.”
