A FUNDRAISER launched to cover the legal action against a decision to build a tunnel past Stonehenge has reached £25,000 in just two and a half days.
Save Stonehenge World Heritage Site, a new organisation set up by The Stonehenge Alliance, has "instructed counsel and Leigh Day to investigate the lawfulness of the Secretary of State’s decision to approve the A303 Stonehenge dual carriageway", and are looking to raisse £50,000 in total.
The Stonehenge Alliance said: "We have been moved by the generosity of over 800 pledges that took us to £22,000 yesterday. Today we reached £25,000 thanks to nearly 1,000 donors covering the cost of legal preliminaries in an amazing 60 hours. THANK YOU."

The decision to build a two-mile (3.2km) tunnel out of sight of the monument goes against the recommendations of planning officials, but Grant Shapps said in his decision letter he is "satisfied that there is a clear need case for the development and considers that the benefits identified weigh significantly in favour of it".
